INTRODUCTION
This manual is intended to offer Lithium Batteries South Africa clients with Luxpower specific guidance when setting up communication between the battery and inverter. For further details pertaining to the setup of the Luxpower equipment not pertaining directly to the LBSA interface please refer to the various manuals available on the Luxpower website. Likewise, for further information pertaining to the LBSA batteries, please refer to the LBSA website to download the user manuals (https://lithiumbatteriessa.co.za/) or contact Lithium Batteries South Africa at 010 110 1991.
COMMUNICATION CABLE
The CAN cable used between the LBSA battery and the Luxpower Inverter depends on the age of the inverter. Old inverters utilize pins 3 and 4 for CAN communication whereas new inverters utilize pins 4 and 5. The color of the DIP switches on the inverter is an indicator of which pinout to use. If the inverter has RED DIP switches then pinout 1 must be used. If the inverter has BLUE dip switches then pinout 2 must be used.
Pins on the battery side are always pins 4 and 5.

BATTERY SETUP WITH COMMUNICATION
To establish communication between the Luxpower inverter and an LBSA battery, the battery type must be set to Lithium in setting number 3. After selecting Lithium, the battery brand type must be set to no.6 - Luxpower Protocol Battery.
The inverter will then switch off momentarily while it resets to adjust these settings.

CONFIRMING COMMUNICATION
You can confirm communication by checking if the SOC displayed on the inverter is the same as the average SOC of the battery bank.
The Luxpower inverter will also show a happy face if there are no warnings.
BATTERY SETUP WITHOUT COMMUNICATION
To set up the inverter without communication, the battery type must be set to Lead Acid in setting number 3.

Setting number 6: the Maximum charge current must be set according to the specifications of the battery.
Please note, the inverter will not accept a higher value than it is rated for.

Setting 7 and 8: the bulk and float voltages must be set according to the specifications of the battery.

Setting 9: the maximum discharge current must be set according to the specifications of the battery.
Please note, the inverter will not accept a higher value than it is rated for.

Setting 11: the cut-off voltage can be set according to the specifications of the LBSA battery.
This voltage value may be set higher than the specifications if it is desired to not drain the battery completely.
