INTRODUCTION
This manual is intended to offer Lithium Batteries South Africa clients with Deye specific guidance when setting up communication between the battery and inverter. For further details pertaining to the setup of the Deye equipment not pertaining directly to the LBSA interface please refer to the various manuals available on the Deye website. Likewise, for further information pertaining to the LBSA batteries, please refer to the LBSA website to download the user manuals (https://lithiumbatteriessa.co.za/) or contact Lithium Batteries South Africa at 010 110 1991.
COMMUNICATION CABLE
The CAN cable used between the LBSA battery and the Deye Inverter is a straight pin to pin cable. Deye inverters are usually sold with this (yellow) cable. The cable will go into the port on the LBSA battery labeled CAN to the port on the Deye inverter labeled BMS 485/ CAN.

BATTERY SETUP WITH COMMUNICATION
To establish communication between the battery(s) and inverter, go to the battery settings. The battery type must be set to Lithium and the Protocol as 0. The capacity (AH) set on this page is the capacity of one battery or all batteries in parallel. Set the charge and discharge amps according to the specifications of the battery(s). The inverter will not allow higher values than it is rated for.

CONFIRMING COMMUNICATION
To confirm that communication has been established, go to the LI-BMS page. If the page shows values similar to the image below, and the charge and discharge current limits provided add up to the totals of your battery bank, then communication has been established. The SOC on this page is the SOC of one battery or the average SOC of all batteries in the bank. The charge current will change when the batteries get close to 100% SOC.

If the LI-BMS page shows as below, then communication has not been established. This could be due to a faulty CAN cable or plugging the CAN cable into the wrong port on the battery or inverter.

On the last page of the battery settings, the shutdown, low battery and restart SOC's can be set. It is recommended to set the Shut down to 10%, the Low battery to 15% and the restart on 20%.

BATTERY SETUP WITHOUT COMMUNICATION
To set the inverter without communication, first select AGM V. The capacity (AH) set on this page is the capacity of one battery or all batteries in parallel. Set the charge and discharge amps according to the specifications of the battery(s). The inverter will not allow higher values than it is rated for.

On the battery charge page you must insert the voltage values according to the specifications of the battery. For example, 51.2V batteries must be set to 56.2V on all three settings. Take note: if there is no communication between the inverter and the battery(s), the SOC will not be accurate.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions | Answers |
---|---|
How do I know if my inverter is 'seeing' all my batteries? | By navigating to the Li-BMS page, you will be able to see the capacity of all the batteries. If the value provided is not according to all your batteries in parallel, then the inverter is not communicating with all batteries. |
