Earlier this year, Lithium Batteries South Africa (LBSA) proudly participated in Solar & Storage Live Africa at the Gallagher Convention Centre, one of the continent's leading renewable energy and energy storage exhibitions.
Over three exciting days, the event brought together industry leaders, installers, engineers, EPCs, distributors, and technology innovators to explore the latest developments shaping the future of energy in Africa.
For LBSA, the exhibition provided the perfect platform to showcase our commitment to innovation, safety, and locally developed energy storage solutions.
Launching the StormGuard Inferno High Voltage Battery
One of the biggest highlights of the exhibition was the official launch of the LBSA StormGuard Inferno High Voltage Battery.
Designed specifically for commercial, industrial, agricultural, and large-scale energy storage applications, the StormGuard Inferno attracted significant attention from visitors across the industry.
The system was developed to address some of the key challenges facing modern energy storage by combining:
- High-voltage performance
- Rugged industrial construction
- Water-resistant protection
- Integrated Fireblock fire suppression technology
- Advanced battery management and monitoring capabilities
The launch marked an important milestone for LBSA as we continue expanding our high-voltage product offering and delivering energy storage solutions built for African conditions.
Demonstrating Safety Through Real-World Testing
Battery safety remains a critical topic within the energy storage industry, and Solar & Storage Live Africa provided an ideal opportunity to demonstrate how safety can be integrated directly into battery design.
A major attraction at the LBSA stand was the display of a 5.3 kWh LBSA Fireblock Suppression Ready Battery that had previously undergone a controlled thermal runaway event.
Visitors were able to see firsthand how the Fireblock Suppression Ready system activated during the event, deploying Fireblock Lithium Gel throughout the battery to contain and suppress the thermal incident.
The battery was then opened and displayed, allowing attendees to inspect how the suppression system distributed the gel internally and helped prevent the event from escalating.
This practical demonstration generated significant interest and highlighted the importance of integrated fire suppression technologies in modern lithium battery systems.
Strong Industry Partnerships
LBSA was also proud to share the stand with valued technology partners Fireblock and Microcare Energy.
Microcare Energy showcased their 50kW DC-to-DC EV Charger, demonstrating how advanced charging infrastructure can be integrated with high-voltage battery storage systems to support the growing electric vehicle market.
Fireblock displayed their specialised lithium battery extinguishers and suppression technologies, reinforcing the role that battery safety plays in the future of energy storage deployment.
These partnerships demonstrate how collaboration between industry leaders can create smarter, safer, and more reliable energy solutions.
Building the Future of Energy Storage in Africa
Throughout the exhibition, the LBSA team engaged with installers, engineers, project developers, distributors, and end users from across Southern Africa.
The conversations, feedback, and industry engagement reinforced the growing demand for locally assembled, serviced, and supported energy storage solutions that prioritize both performance and safety.
Solar & Storage Live Africa provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the innovation taking place within South Africa's energy storage sector while highlighting LBSA's continued investment in advanced battery technologies.
As the renewable energy industry continues to evolve, LBSA remains committed to developing solutions that deliver reliability, safety, and long-term value for residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial applications.
We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand, our partners who helped make the exhibition a success, and the organisers of Solar & Storage Live Africa for hosting another outstanding event.
We look forward to continuing to drive innovation in battery storage and supporting the growth of renewable energy across Africa.
