Lithium Batteries South Africa recently hosted an exclusive live demonstration showcasing the capabilities of the LBSA Rhino Intelliflex High Voltage Battery in a practical, real-world application — powering a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) and water pumping system directly from stored solar energy.
The demonstration provided installers, industry partners, and guests with the opportunity to see how high voltage battery technology can be integrated into solar-powered systems to improve reliability, extend operating hours, and maximise renewable energy utilisation.
Real-World High Voltage Battery Demonstration
The demonstration was built around a fully operational containerised energy system, allowing attendees to experience the complete energy flow from solar generation, through battery storage, and into a working VSD application.

The high voltage battery supplied power directly to a Variable Speed Drive, which was used to operate a 2.2kW water pump drawing water from a drum.
This setup replicated a real agricultural application, demonstrating how the Rhino Intelliflex can support irrigation and pumping requirements where reliable energy availability is essential.
Solar Charging and Intelligent Energy Management
To demonstrate the complete renewable energy cycle, the battery system was connected to an inverter supplied by solar panels installed on the roof of the container.
