Electricity Price Increase Approved – Effective 1 April 2026

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) has approved new electricity tariff increases that will take effect from 1 April 2026 for direct Eskom customers and 1 July 2026 for municipal customers.
Approved increases:
• 8.76% increase for the 2026/27 financial year
• 8.83% increase for the 2027/28 financial year
This means consumers could see a compound increase of over 18% across two years, putting further pressure on households, farms, commercial properties, and industrial operations.
How LBSA Batteries Can Help
As electricity costs rise, reducing reliance on the grid becomes more important than ever. Our LBSA Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) battery ranges are designed to support different sectors affected by these increases:
Residential (Homes & Estates) – Low Voltage Range
• Store excess solar energy for night-time use
• Reduce peak-time grid consumption
• Protect against future tariff increases
• Improve backup capability during outages
Commercial & Retail – Low & High Voltage
• Reduce operational electricity costs
• Shave peak demand charges
• Maintain business continuity
• Scale storage as business grows
Agriculture & Farming – High Voltage
• Support irrigation systems and VSDs
• Stabilise energy costs during seasonal demand spikes
• Store daytime solar for early morning or evening use
Industrial & Large Energy Users – High Voltage
• Support grid-tied inverters
• Offset high daytime tariffs
• Improve return on investment for solar installations
Rising tariffs are unavoidable.
Energy independence is a choice.
